Rawalpindi: The number of hepatitis patients in Pakistan has exceeded 12 million, but due to lack of diagnosis, eight out of every ten patients do not know that they are victims of this deadly disease. People die from hepatitis.


Hepatitis is a deadly disease that has become serious in Pakistan, the proportion of hepatitis C patients worldwide is highest in Pakistan, followed by China, India and Nigeria.


According to a careful estimate, the number of hepatitis patients in Pakistan has exceeded 12 million. Lack of timely diagnosis is the main cause of death due to this deadly disease. Every year, around 700,000 people around the world are infected with hepatitis B. While more than 300,000 people die due to hepatitis C.


Medical experts say that it is possible to get rid of this fatal disease with timely diagnosis and treatment.


The World Health Organization has committed to make the world hepatitis free by 2030, but the rapidly increasing number of patients in Pakistan is very alarming.
